The Definition of Base Chemistry

The Definition of Base ChemistryAs you probably know, the definitions of base and ionic chemistry is a part of many chemistry courses. A student in such courses must always remember the word 'base' because it refers to the elements that are all kinds of substances that do not mix with each other. In chemical elements, the word 'base' has a different meaning. It usually refers to the parts of a substance that are natural and inorganic and there are various forms of compounds that have a 'base' part to them. The term 'base' is usually used to refer to different types of alkaline components that are commonly found in nature and includes organic and inorganic chemicals. As you may have guessed, a 'base' is also related to the 'base' in the equation, alkaline and acidic. Another one of its definitions is that the acid is the same with the base. In other words, a 'base' is the component that combines with an acid. The definition of base is also important because it actually refers to the typ e of elements and their properties and can sometimes have two variations. There are four different acid types that are defined as 'base' - hydroxide, sulfate, nitrate and carbonate. The various types of base come in different shapes, like liquid, solid, gaseous and a dry substance. Most acid is made up of a component called an organic acid, which is another name for alcohol. To be more specific, in chemistry, 'alkaline' acid is generally made up of ethanoic, eicosanoic, and propionic acids. There are four types of 'base' found in nature, one being an inorganic base, which can be found in seashells, mud, mud puddles, pebbles, etc. A 'condensed' or liquid form of such acid is a compound called gluconic acid.Another common type of base is a neutral acid that is found in water, urine, saliva, sweat, mucus, and other bodily fluids. A 'neutral' is generally present in soap products, bleaches, stain removers, cleaning supplies, etc.

Learning Styles - Private Tutoring

Learning Styles BobbiM Mar 26, 2014 Now lets talk about different learning styles. Learning styles? Yep. The different ways people learn. For me personally I learn easier by seeing things visually. Read these descriptions of each learning style and decide how you learn best. Visual learners: those who learn best by watching or seeing. Visual learners like to be shown how to do things and often learn best through diagrams or by using imagery. If you are a visual learner,(like me!) if someone asks you how to spell a word, you probably have to write it down yourself first, rather than simply trying to spell the word in your head or out loud. Are you a visual learner? Auditory learners: those who learn best by listening or speaking. Auditory learners can learn easily through listening to lectures or by talking information over with a peer. If you are an auditory learner, you probably rarely miss a class lecture and you may participate in study groups for many of your courses. You may rehearse information by saying it over, either to yourself or out loud. Are you an auditory learner? Kinesthetic learners: those who learn best by touching or movement. Kinesthetic learners generally learn best through writing or even typing things out. If you are a Kinesthetic learner, you may rehearse information by writing it several times. You also may enjoy lab courses where there is a hands-on approach to learning. Are you a Kinesthetic learner? Excerpt from College Success Strategies by Sherrie L. Nist and Jodi Patrick Holschuh.

SAT Math Solving Impossible Math Problems

SAT Math Solving Impossible Math Problems ACT SAT Prep and College Admissions Blog The SAT sometimes approaches math a bit differently than we’re used to in math class. One of these differences in approach is in the way some SAT math problems ask us to solve for relationships between variables, rather than the value of one particular variable. These problems can seem very challenging, or even downright impossible, at first glance, because they often give us multiple variables but only one equation. One thing we learn in math class when studying systems of equations is that in order to solve for 2 variables, we usually need 2 separate equations; to solve for 3 variables, we need 3 separate equations; and so on. Certain SAT math problems will appear to violate that general rule and ask us to do something that’s supposed to be impossible, like solving for 2 variables with only 1 equation. When we look more closely at such problems, though, we realize that the SAT is not really asking for the value of each individual variable involved. Instead, we’re asked to find the value of the sum, product, or some other relationship involving 2 or more variables. Let’s look at an example of such a problem: If 4x + 7y + 1 = y â€" 2, What is the value of 2x + 3y? A. -2 B. -1.5 C. -0.5 D. 2 E. 4.5 Explanation and solution: We’re given only one equation, but it involves 2 unknowns: x and y. We really don’t have enough information to solve for the value of x and/or the value of y, but fortunately, that’s not what the question asks us to do. Instead, we are asked to find the value of a sort of relationship that involves both x and y together: 2x + 3y. To do this, we algebraically manipulate the equation that’s given. Instead of trying to isolate x or isolate y, we try to isolate the quantity “2x + 3y”. To do this, we can first subtract y from both sides of the equation, and then subtract 1 from both sides, so that the equation now looks like: 4x + 6y = -3. To finish isolating “2x + 3y”, we divide both sides of the equation by 2 and obtain: 2x + 3y = -1.5. So the correct answer choice is “B”. Let’s look at another example: If the average of x, y, and z is 12, what is the value of 3(x + y + z)? A. 12 B. 24 C. 36 D. 72 E. 108 Explanation and solution: To obtain the average of x, y, and z, we would need to add the 3 numbers together and then divide the resulting sum by 3. Since we are told that their average equals 12, we can express the information as an equation: (x + y + z)/3 = 12. Multiplying both sides of the equation by 3, we obtain: (x + y + z) = 36. To find the value of 3(x + y + z), we can again multiply both sides of the equation by 3 and find that 3(x + y + z) = 108. The correct answer choice is “E”. Notice that in the problem we just solved, we did not solve for the individual values of x, y, or z; that would have required more information than we were given.

Starting the Job Search Where to Begin

Starting the Job Search Where to Begin Photo Via: Pixabay.com 1. Craft a Resume The first step in any job search is to craft your resume. While you’ve likely been developing this over the course of your college career, this is something you will want to perfect before you begin applying to places. The best method for ensuring your resume is top-notch is to visit a workshop in which someone can look over your resume and give you pointers on whether or not it’s successful. Remember that crafting a resume is an art, and simply putting your experience on paper in a list isn’t going to cut it, so be sure to seek help from someone with experience in that regard. 2. Scour Job Boards The job boards are going to be your best friend when you are looking to apply places. These are active postings that allow you to read through the job descriptions prior to applying and that don’t require you to look into specific companies. These are great for finding positions you wouldn’t have otherwise known about, which will, in turn, help you to expand your search. You don’t want to limit yourself to one specific position or company, so these boards will help you open up other opportunities. 3. Develop a Targeted List In addition to scouring the job boards, you will also want to develop a targeted list of top companies you are interested in. There will not always be an opening at the company that you want to get into, but this is a great way to send over a resume in case any positions open up and get your name out there. Some companies will be receptive to this, others will not, but this targeted list will also help you to keep your mind open and ensure that you’re staying on top of any open positions at the companies that you want to work for. 4. Expand Your Title Search Many individuals pigeonhole themselves into one, specific job title. This is ultimately going to limit your search, as plenty of positions are out there that are essentially the same, but under a different title. When searching job boards, use different search strings to come up with alternative positions. Basically, keep an open mind in terms of what you’re looking for. If you’re joining the workforce immediately after college, you’re looking at entry-level openings anyway. For this reason, keep an open mind and remember that it’s about where you’re going rather than how you get your foot in the door. 5. Create Unique Cover Letters One of the biggest mistakes students make when applying to positions is to create a cover letter that isn’t customized to the position. Essentially, when applying to a new position, your cover letter should speak to your experience as it relates to the job description at hand. Therefore, every cover letter should speak to the job you’re applying for, in a customized manner. Each application will require a different cover letter, so prepare a general idea of what you want to say ahead of time, then customize that content for each position. 6. Practice Interviewing Finally, and most importantly, you need to prepare for what comes after the application: the interview. While it’s impossible to entirely prepare for these, you can always practice interviewing to give yourself a competitive edge. Going into a first interview without practicing is a risk, and it’s better to ask a friend or family member to mock interview you so that you are ready for difficult questions and know how to act under pressure. You can also visit a workshop that specializes in interview prep to help prepare yourself a little more. Again, hunting for a job isn’t an easy task, and it’s a process that can be rather frustrating to begin. When you’re applying for the first time, it can be even more challenging, as you don’t have any previous knowledge to work with. These first six steps are a great starting point to get you pointed in the right direction to ease some of that frustration. Plus, who knows, maybe these six steps could be the difference between you and your dream job! Good luck everyone and happy hunting!

Definition of Mass in Chemistry

Definition of Mass in ChemistryWhy is it important to know how to define mass in chemistry? Well, because there are different things that are related to it.For example, you may know that the mass of a substance is equal to the weight of that substance multiplied by the volume. But do you know why that is? That is because the mass of an object is determined by the amount of mass it has divided by the weight. So that is the reason why a person cannot measure or weigh a lot of different substances at once if you want to estimate the mass of a substance or idea that you may have. However, once you find the formula for this equation, you can use that in your equation to define the mass of the substance or idea. It is just like how a person can just say something like 'that object weighs 10 grams' and it would be correct. In this case, that would mean that the object weighed in the certain number of grams. Now, what if there were two objects that weighed in the same way, but one was heavier? Well, there would be something like this. The one that weighed more would be heavier and the one that weighed less would be lighter. The same thing applies to the mass of a substance, it would just mean that the mass is the number of grams multiplied by the volume. With this, you can now calculate or define the mass of a substance without having to determine its mass and also what quantity it contains. This is the main purpose of knowing how to define mass in chemistry. It is important in science because there are different elements and compounds that need to be measured to determine the mass of these things. But you cannot determine the mass by itself. In physics, mass is important when studying different types of forces. For example, if you look at a bottle of soda, you can see how the mass of the bottle is dependent on the density of the soda, which is in turn dependent on the size of the bottle. This equation is called the Dalton Equation and this term uses that equation in determ ining the mass of a substance or idea. Now, this equation can also be used in chemistry. You may already know how to use it in studying various metals and different substances, but once you find the formula, you can now use it in your equations to define the mass of a substance.
